G: Ann (1822-1880)

G:    Ann McCUTCHEON (3) (William McCutcheon-2; McCutcheon-1) was born in November 1822 in County Down, Province of Ulster, Northern Ireland and she died 11th August 1880 in Albion Township, Peel County, ON.  She was buried at the Albion Presbyterian Cemetery.  She married Charles CALDWELL on the 3rd June 1852 in Toronto, ON.  He was born on the 25th January 1815 in County Tyrone, Northern Ireland and he died on the 18th December 1879 in Albion, Peel County, ON.  His parents were John Caldwell and Catherine.  ♣♣

NOTE:   one of the witnesses to Ann and Charles’ marriage was David McCutcheon.

♣♣          Charles Caldwell, brother of Jane Caldwell (Clarke) married Ann McCutcheon. Ann was sister to David McCutcheon (1805-1877 of “B” aforementioned). David’s daughter, Hannah McCutcheon married Jane’s son, John Clarke – her first cousin one time removed.

  • John CALDWELL (4) (Ann McCutcheon-3; William McCutcheon-2; McCutcheon-1) was born on the e27th March 1853 in Albion Township, Peel County, ON.  He died on the 2nd August 1915 in York, ON.  He married Isabella C Campbell circa 1885.   She was born on the 10th August 1856 and she died on the 14th February 1906.

NOTE:  At the time of Isabella’s death her residence Location was listed as St. Clarence Avenue., York.  This couple were childless.  After John’s mother, Ann McCutcheon died in 1880, the family lived on the farm in Albion Township until the farm could be disposed of.  By the 1891 Canadian Census, John and his new wife were living in St. Stephens Ward, in Toronto, along with three of his siblings: Charles, Agnes and Anne.  In 1891, both John and Charles were employed as “Living Stable Keepers’; Agnes and Anne were employed as “Tailoress”.

  • William CALDWELL (4) (Ann McCutcheon-3; William McCutcheon-2; McCutcheon-1) was born in October 1854.  He died 27th April 1856 in Albion Township, Peel County, ON.

  • Agnes CALDWELL (4) (Ann McCutcheon-3; William McCutcheon-2; McCutcheon-1) was born on the 7th January 1858 in Albion Township, Peel County, ON.  She died on the 3rd March 1911 in Toronto, ON.

NOTE:   Agnes never married.  She was working as a Tailoress in Toronto.  Agnes died of Arterial Sclerosis, suffering the last 3 days with Acute Bright’s Disease.  Bright’s disease is an historical classification for different types of kidney failure.

  • Mary Jane CALDWELL (4) (Ann McCutcheon-3; William McCutcheon-2; McCutcheon-1) was born in 1862 in Albion Township, Peel County, ON.

NOTE:       Mary Jane was buried at the Presbyterian Cemetery, lot 5, Concession 5, Albion Township.  No other historical records have been found for Mary Jane.  The last record found in the 1881 Ontario Census, so it is probable that she died around the age of 19 years.

    possibly died as an infant.
  • Anne CALDWELL (4) (Ann McCutcheon-3; William McCutcheon-2; McCutcheon-1) was born in 1865 and died on the 11th December 1944 in Albion Township, Peel County, ON.

NOTE:               Anne never married.  She worked as a Tailoress in Toronto in 1891, then after that until her death in 1944, I find no more historical records.

  • Charles CALDWELL (4) (Ann McCutcheon-3; William McCutcheon-2; McCutcheon-1) was born 1867 in Albion Township, Peel County, ON.  He died on the 17th August 1941 in Uxbridge, ON. He was buried at the Laurel Hill Cemetery Bolton.  He married Luella May VANATTER (1878-1926) on the 25thJune 1914 in Toronto, ON.  Her parents were Erastus Vanatter and Amanda Osborn.

 CATHERINE F CALDWELL (1856-1930);

1)      Catherine F CALDWELL (4) (Ann McCutcheon-3; William McCutcheon-2; McCutcheon-1) was born on the 4th August 1856 in Albion Township, Peel County, ON.  She died on the 9th March 1930.  She married William Carr HOGG on the 20th September 1890 in York, ON.  He was born in September 1863 and he died on the 22nd September 1943 in Uxbridge, ON.  They were both buried at the Uxbridge Cemetery.  His parents were Robert Hogg and Margaret Sampson.

  • Robert Norman HOGG (5) (Catherine Caldwell-4; Ann McCutcheon-3; William McCutcheon-2; McCutcheon-1) was born on the 3rd September 1894 and he died on the 6th December 1965 in Uxbridge, ON.  He married Olive Mary BRITTON (1896-1927) on the 27th September 1922.  Their child: Agnes Jean (7th March 1925 – 29th January 1940).

2)      William F CALDWELL (4) (Ann McCutcheon-3; William McCutcheon-2; McCutcheon-1) was born on the 24th March 1860 and he died on the 9th September 1939 in Albion Township, Peel County, ON.  He married Margaret Jane PHILLIPS on the 3rd November 1886.  She was born in 1864 in ON. and she died on the 8th March 1897 in Albion township, ON. Her parents were John Phillips and Margaret Kaiser. ‡‡

  • Ann Laurena “Twin” CALDWELL (5) (William Caldwell-4; Ann McCutcheon-3; William McCutcheon-2; McCutcheon-1) was born on the 7th September 1889.  D. 16th October 1905  in Albion Township, Peel County, ON.  Ann died of Diphtheria which she suffered from for 4 days.
  • Charles Albert CALDWELL (5) (William Caldwell-4; Ann McCutcheon-3; William McCutcheon-2; McCutcheon-1) was born on the 10th November 1890 and he died on the 5th December 1955 Albion Township, Peel County, ON. He married Sarah Helen SHEARDOWN (1906-2008) on the 23rd November 1929. Her parents were James Sheardown and Sarah Ann Campbell. They had two daughters.
  • Luella Victoria CALDWELL (5) (William Caldwell-4; Ann McCutcheon-3; William McCutcheon-2; McCutcheon-1) was born on the 28th May 1891 and she died on the 10th April 1898 in Albion Township, Peel County, ON.  She died of heart disease at age 7 years.

LAURA MAY CALDWELL (1889-1993):

i.      Laura May “Twin” CALDWELL (5) (William Caldwell-4; Ann McCutcheon-3; William McCutcheon-2; McCutcheon-1) was born on the 7th September 1889 in Albion Township, Peel County, ON.  She died in 1993 in Orangeville, ON.  She married James Alexander GOODFELLOW (1886-1959) on the 17th February 1911 in Albion Township.  He was born on the 28th October 1886 and he died on the 13th December 1959.  His parents were James Goodfellow and Minetta Jane Bradley.  ☺☺

  • Margaret Anne GOODFELLOW (6) (Laura Caldwell-5; William Caldwell-4; Ann McCutcheon-3; William McCutcheon-2; McCutcheon-1) B. on the 22nd June in Albion Township, Peel County, ON. D. on the 9th May 1999 in Perth, ON. She married William Gordon LINDSAY (1908-1986) on the 31st August 1933. His parents were Herbert Lindsay and Elizabeth Wilkinson.
  • Beatrice Olive GOODFELLOW (6) (Laura Caldwell-5; William Caldwell-4; Ann McCutcheon-3; William McCutcheon-2; McCutcheon-1) B. on the 23rd March 1915 in Albion Township, Peel County, ON. D. 11th April 2004 in Toronto. ON.  She is buried at Laurel Hill Cemetery. She married twice. First to Thomas FRENCH (1888-1971) on the 15th September 1937. They had three children – 2 sons and one daughter. Second she married Stanley CARBERRY (1915-1988) on the 20 June 1987. ☺☺
  • Edgar Alexander GOODFELLOW (6) (Laura Caldwell-5; William Caldwell-4; Ann McCutcheon-3; William McCutcheon-2; McCutcheon-1) B. on the 15th April 1917 in Albion Township, Peel County, ON. D.30th August 1991 in Toronto. ON. He married Della Marcel Irene SEARLE (1911-1991) on the 11th May 1940. They are both buried at Laurel Hill Cemetery. Her parents were Albert Searle and Mary Newlove. Edgar and Della had one son and one daughter.
  • Russell Henry GOODFELLOW (6) (Laura Caldwell-5; William Caldwell-4; Ann McCutcheon-3; William McCutcheon-2; McCutcheon-1) B. on the 1st July 1920 in Albion Township, Peel County, ON. D. 9th July 2001 in Collingwood, ON. He married Unknown McCABE. They are buried at Laurel Hill Cemetery.  They had two sons and two daughters.

ii.        Mary Ethel CALDWELL (5) (William Caldwell-4; Ann McCutcheon-3; William McCutcheon-2; McCutcheon-1) was born on the 30th December 1894 in Albion Township, Peel County, ON. and she died on the 29th March 1981 in Aurora, ON.  She married William Charles PICKRELL on the 20th October 1918 in Toronto ON.  He was born on the 20th November 1879 in Muskoka, ON. and he died on the 21st December 1955 in Queensville, ON.  They were both buried at the Queensville Cemetery.  His parents were Charles Edward Pickrell and Eunice Huntley.

  • Mary Enid PICKRELL (6) (Mary Ethel Caldwell-5; William Caldwell-4; Ann McCutcheon-3; William McCutcheon-2; McCutcheon-1).  B. 21st January 1921.  D. 14th November 2008 in Newmarket, ON.  She married John WOLANSKY (1919-1989) circa 1948.  They are buried at Queensville Cemetery. Their child: Eric Nicholas (1949-1989).

PICKRELL— At York County Hospital, on Sunday, April 5, Eric Pickrell, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Pickrell, in his 21st year. The funeral service was held from Strasler Funeral Home, Queensville, on Tuesday. Interment in Briar Hill Cemetery, Sutton.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday afternoon last week for Eric Garfield Pickrell, 20-year old son of Mr. and Mrs. William Pickrell of Ravenshoe, who died following a motor accident near Queensville early the previous Sunday morning. Reverend Gordon Lapp of Keswick United Church conducted the service at Strasler’s funeral chapel at Queensville. Interment was made at Briar Hill Cemetery in Sutton, ON.

Pallbearers were Jack Pollock, Toronto, Peter Walker, Toronto, David Rowlings, Queensville, Norman Martin, Queensville, Russell Pollock and Alan Martin, Ravenshoe.

Eric Pickrell was the son of Mary Caldwell and William Pickrell. He was born at Brownhill, where his father was a blacksmith. Ten years ago the family moved to Ravenshoe. Eric attended school at Brownhill and Ravenshoe. For two years he worked on a farm near Queensville and since last fall had been working in Toronto.

On the Thursday night before Easter he had returned home for the weekend holiday. On the Saturday noon he and his younger brother, Harvey, went to Newmarket, and when returning home early Sunday morning the accident occurred. Eric died four hours later in York County Hospital.

Surviving besides his parents are eight brothers and sisters; Charles of Keswick, Enid of Toronto, James of Ravenshoe and, Harvey, Fred, Lorena, Caryl and Don at home.

  • James PICKRELL (6) (Mary Ethel Caldwell-5; William Caldwell-4; Ann McCutcheon-3; William McCutcheon-2; McCutcheon-1).  B. 25th June 1926.  D. 2007.  He married Evelyn Unknown.
  • Frederick Harold PICKRELL (6) (Mary Ethel Caldwell-5; William Caldwell-4; Ann McCutcheon-3; William McCutcheon-2; McCutcheon-1).  B. 13th November 1929.  D. 16th January 2004 in Beaverton, ON.  He married twice.  First to Doris SCOTT in 1955. They were divorced in 1968. Their children:  Steve; Marion; Karen; Bruce. He remarried to Bertha Lenore “Mae” SUTHERLAND (1924-2012). Their child: Helen.
  • Caryl PICKRELL (6) (Mary Ethel Caldwell-5; William Caldwell-4; Ann McCutcheon-3; William McCutcheon-2; McCutcheon-1).  Married with 2 children.
  • Lorene Grace PICKRELL (6) (Mary Ethel Caldwell-5; William Caldwell-4; Ann McCutcheon-3; William McCutcheon-2; McCutcheon-1).  B. June 1932.  D. 25th March 2001 in Aurora, ON.  She married James William GIFFORD (1924-1976) in 1955 in Queensville, ON. They are buried at Queensville Cemetery.
  • Donald PICKRELL (6) (Mary Ethel Caldwell-5; William Caldwell-4; Ann McCutcheon-3; William McCutcheon-2; McCutcheon-1).  Married with 3 children.

ADA  MARGARET CALDWELL (1896-1988):

iii.              Ada Margaret CALDWELL (5) (William Caldwell-4; Ann McCutcheon-3; William McCutcheon-2; McCutcheon-1) was born on the 28th October 1896 in Albion Township, Peel County, ON. and she died on the 9th July 1988 in Bolton, ON.  She married George Edward ROBINSON (1883-1960) on the 1st June 1921.  His parents were Francis Robinson and Georgina.   ☺☺
